Where and when do games take place?

Weekend competitions are scheduled to occur two times in the season.  One in mid-September and the other in late October.  A team could play on either Saturday or Sunday.  All weekend competitions will take place at the Virginia Volleyball Center in Sterling, VA.

The time commitment on a competition day is approximately three-four hours and can occur anytime between 8am and 8pm. LYV uses set play: a match consists of three sets, regardless of who won the first two, with a time limit of 50 minutes. This allows each team to have a total of 6-9 sets per weekend.

All teams will have work team assignments scheduled in their competition block.  All players will participate in their work assignment which involves line judging and score table responsibilities.  Work team assignments are an integral way to further enrich their knowledge of the game and to bond as a team.

Are there differences in how the games are played among the different divisions of LYV?

Elementary teams and Middle School House teams rotate players through all positions on the court during game play. Middle School Open teams and High School teams play using a competition rotation system, where athletes play more specific positions.
