Registering for LYV
Every athlete participating in LYV will go through a skills assessment to define their best team placement. All assessments are hosted at the Virginia Volleyball Center, home of the Northern Virginia Volleyball Association. Athletes will be evaluated by NVVA staff through objective drills using the latest and most advanced sports technology.

Prepare for the season
We offer multiple programs to help your athlete be better prepared for LYV assessment. Each program is designed to adapt to the athletes' skill level. Coaches will teach the skills using volleyball principles and keys. At the end of each program, the athlete should have a better understanding of how the game is played.

Assessments
During assessments we will be objectively grading your athlete in the following skills: passing, serving, setting, hitting, and sports performance. Our assessments goal is to make unbiased decisions on what team your athlete should be placed. Assessments are managed by NVVA's coaches using the latest sports technology. There are multiple team levels your athlete could be assigned to, each level is adapted to the athlete's skill experience.

Matches
Once matches start, each LYV team will play 12 matches over multiple weekends in September and October. All matches will be at the Virginia Volleyball Center in Sterling, VA. Each team will play two or three matches every weekend, earning points for the final placement into the LYV Tournament the last weekend of October.
